Use a sheet of graph paper to draw out your plan then transfer it to a suitable plastic sheet where you can replicate the lines and the points and drill holes for lights or whatever. If you really wanted to go down the software route, without any real cost, then use Excel.

I heard about this problem after I had purchased my Adams Radial a couple of years ago. I sent it back to Hornby, after contacting them and they rectified the problem and returned it to me in Australia. tI tested it OK on my rolling road. If you are using Tortoise or DCC Cobalt motors then you don't need the spring. I don't know whether that is of any use but it does stop you having to worry about them.
