Re: Simple figure painting.

What turntable do you use? Pannier Tank hasn’t been on the forum since February 2019 so I doubt he’ll reply. I stick my figures onto a piece of wood or the end of a piece of dowel with Tacky Wax. Oops Brian beat me to it. I tend to use clothes pegs but was hoping for something better. Cake turntabl...

Re: Reconditioning the Metcalfe Corner Shop

The main issue with Metcalfe buildings, apart from their steadily increasing prices, which is probably not their choice, is they are becoming so common. It is rare to see a layout in the press or exhibitions that is not populated with them. This is perfectly understandable as they are easily and qui...

Re: hornby R 296 track cleaning wagon

Given the relatively early item number, I would guess that most Triang-Hornby track was then steel rather than nickel steel, so was probably effective at cleaning surface deposits. I would also suspect it may have been more of a "scenic" item rather than something that was actually effecti...

Re: Litho overlays

No. They were seen in a "other items" listing on ebay and I rather liked them. No make on overlays either. I guess they are either special printings or some years out of production - though dimensions seem pretty spot on.

Re: Unpainted figures

I had completely forgotten about Hardys Hobbies, I've looked at so many producers of figures! Yes, they are superb but like most things that are that well made, it does come at a price. Unless it's something that is going to catch your eye every time you see it, I'm not convinced that the precision ...

Re: Litho overlays

I know the type you mean but these ones are a bit thicker - possibly two or three times thicker than ones I've used before, so positioning will be fun!

Litho overlays

What is the best way to attach litho overlays to aluminium?

I'm inclined to use canopy glue which should attach anything plastic to almost anything but open to suggestions; although I would avoid 2 part epoxy as I can never work out how much I need!!!

Re: Unpainted figures

It really depends on how detailed they need to be: if they are just background then the cheapest option is eBay with the figures originating from China. These can be out of precise scale, are somewhat generic, nor very detailed and need painting but are really cheap. For detailed figures, you are re...
