Re: Price Of Wood.
Thats a great price for 18mm. Their 9mm is a good price too slightly cheaper tham my local supplier, A K Williams in Telford if anyone is local. Mind you Williams cut it to size for free which is handy for me as it means it will be straight and fit in the car :) :D . Their 3 x 1 is 3.60 + vat for an...

Re: DCC stay alives
I have to say that, returning to railway modelling for the first tine since I did it with my dad in the 1960s, DCC scared me. Was never going to be my thing. However as im starting a fresh in N gauge i have been convinced its the way forward if youre starting from scratch. Ive been very involved in ...

Re: Price Of Wood.
Depending where you are it may be looking round for a smaller private supplier rather than B and Q. I always found Wickes a bit cheaper anyway. I live in Kent but spend most of my time in Telford where my partner has donated me a spare room in which to build my railway. (whether she did this to ecou...

Re: DCC stay alives
Could it be, and this is only a guess, that the existing capacitor is there as an RF supressor. If so then removing it will not effect the operation of the loco at all. How much of a problem RF interference is in these modern times I really dont know - Im going back to the days of 450 line TV and AM...

DCC Reversing
Morning gentlemen With many thanks to the replies to my posts in the N gauge section I have decided, possibly against my better judgement lol, to go DCC. Below is a simplified diagram of what im trying to achieve and I thought Id sussed it but the more I think about it when I just want to run round ...

Re: Decision made
Thank you. I wanted a reverse loop so trains can return to the terminus. Now the thing is i know exactly how to wire this in DC. In fact i was going to have a seperate controller for this section. No idea how to do it in DCC but I think I read somewhere you can get some sort of module that does it a...

Re: Decision made
Im hoping if I slightly widen the ends of the baseboaed I wont have to go below 18 inch radius which I belive is above radius 4 so hopefully wont be a problem. I have a personal bugbear about trains of coaches going round tight bends - the angle between the coaches offends me lol. Point taken about ...
