Re: 6 pin decoder required
I suggest you buy one of these:

A decent quality decoder at a sensible price. Maybe not quite as good as a Zimo but a pretty good second choice.

Take a look Scalescenes, in particular their 'scratchbuilders yard':
https://scalescenes.com/scratchbuilders-yard/
You pay a one off small fee to download the pdf file and then you can print it off yourself as many times as you want.

Re: Having issues wiring lights to decoder
I may have completely misunderstood what is in the photo but it looks like you have soldered the two longer (anode) wires of the leds together and then connected both blue and white to the shorter cathode wires. I that's the case then that would explain why it doesn't work but neither would it work ...

Re: DCC Starter package.
Just a suggestion . . . Instead of buying a 30 year old design / technology NCE system why not go for something a bit more up to date? Maybe the nèw Signatrak Ace 3 which they have announced is due to start shipping within the next few weeks. The Ace 2 was good but the new version is much improved, ...

Re: Soldering Flux
I always used to stick with multicore lead solder and occasionally some solid rosin flux. Then, more recently I discovered this gel paste flux: https://www.amazon.co.uk/Rosin-Based-Soldering-Electronics-Electrical/dp/B0C3VWZD1C and I'm a big convert. A tiny bit of this smeared on first and the solde...

Re: DCC blanking plugs
I can't see how you can have a stayalive on dc. The capacitor will only discharge at full volts so every time you try to reduce the speed the capacitor will kick in and make it go full speed again until fully discharged. With DC the full volts will be the voltage you have the controller set to. Unl...

Re: Android Tablet
To be honest it's probably time to replace it. I'd recommend a Lenovo M10 3rd generation 10" tablet. You can buy them on Amazon for £130-£140. I have two of these which run my Z21 and they are very good indeed for the money. You can also still buy the previous 2nd gen model for a bit less but t...
