Re: DCC and loco control basics

I saw the Sig-na-Trak Ace 3 in another post. Whilst i'm sure the setup is nicer with a screen, I'd quite like tactile feel of a controller. Also I spend all day looking at screens so not keen to do more of it. A good approach might be a tablet based system on a setup track to configure everything qu...

Re: DCC and loco control basics

Ah, so they sit in different address spaces, makes sense. I feel I understand CVs as being settings within a decoder for changing various settings, as you say, with one of them being the address of the decoder so it can be moved from the default address they ship with. I'm fortunate that tech is my ...

DCC and loco control basics

I'm yet to buy anything related to this hobby yet, still doing research and next on my list is a DCC controller. I understand the differences between DC and DCC, I decided DCC would be best rather than buy a simple DC controller to start with. I've looked at videos of different systems and I'm confu...

Re: Newbie reporting in

I didn't, but I do know the guy who bought it about 10 years ago was a problem. He bought the place which is next to a microlight club, two model aircraft fields, the Mosquito museum AND the M25. Then proceeds to complain to everyone about noise and tries to get us closed down. Fortunately for us he...

Re: First layout advice

Confused by this. The Peco website states Setrack N Gauge is code 80, Streamline N Gauge is also code 80 according to the Peco website. What have I missed?

Also Streamline SL-300 flex track is N Gauge code 80.

Re: First layout advice

Interesting, can you mix ST (for straights and curves) with SL (for turnouts)?

Re: First layout advice

If a locomotive says minimum radius is 240mm, I understand I can't run it on 1st radius which is why I went for 2nd and 3rd in the layout, but if I use ST-5 and ST-6 turnouts, they're 240mm radius, so will the loco have issues or is it only an issue if its a continuous radius like on a a loop? My pl...

Re: First layout advice

I always use set curves where they will fit and flexi elsewhere. When it comes to getting track to join up correctly and fit into a space, as far as I am concerned, you can’t beat actually laying the track on the board. Make a rough sketch of what you require then build it. While you are faffing ab...
