I looked on Aliexpress & Bangood, but no luck. Lots of reed's, but no latching, which was unusual.Chuffchuff wrote: ↑Sun Feb 13, 2022 8:13 am Thanks I’ll take a look, Just wondering if there were some cheaper china ones about.

Re: Best way to reduce brightness on LEDs & save battery life
Hi, i got my ones athttps://www.layouts4u.net/electrical-it ... eed-switch & was a far better price. Just remember you switch them on/off using north/south poles. Not just a magnet.

Re: Best way to reduce brightness on LEDs & save battery life
LEDs brightness is difficult to judge by eye. My approach would be to connect the LEDs to a pot , judge the required brightness, then measure the resistance of the pot, then use a resistance as near to the measured values. Rgds Now, there's a less work alternative. ;) My carriage's are getting comp...

Re: Best way to reduce brightness on LEDs & save battery life
What the problem is, some carriages are different sizes & some strips are longer than others & didn't want to keep experimenting with single resistors to get the same brightness in each carriage. So, in this case the adjustable one would be more flexible. These are the ones they sell. https:...

Re: Best way to reduce brightness on LEDs & save battery life
Hi, thanks for the reply. The led strip has built in resistors. So what sort of size Potentiometer do you think would be ok. I am looking as a similar one to below as i can drill a small hole in the carriage roof & the brass adjuster will look like part of the carriage. I can also balance the li...

Best way to reduce brightness on LEDs & save battery life
Hi, this is for carriage lights running of a 3.7v 650mah battery & 3v regulator to a 3v led strip & would like to dim them. Is there a better way to do this. Now, i assume if i put a lager resister in the lights will dim. But will i drain the battery quicker? Or would a Potentiometer be bett...

Re: Best led resistor check
Thanks Brian, I think i get confused with some calculators giving different read outs with the same input. Got a feeling some might put in a % safety margin. Will try your recommend resistor's.

Re: Best led resistor check
Hi Use this calculator and it gives the minimum resistance needed. Increasing the resistance a little will not cause any noticeable losing in LED brightness and will reduce current consumed. http://www.hebeiltd.com.cn/calculator/v5/led.php Try to reduce the forward current you don't want to run the...

Best led resistor check
Hi, I will be fitting quite a few red/green bi-led’s & wondered the best resistor to use. Green led = sv 20v / fv 3v / FC 25ma / = 566 ohm resistor Red led = sv 20v / fv 2v / fc 30ma / = 720 ohm resistor 750 ohm 1/8W Carbon Film Resistors is the nearest i can seem to get. Will this be on the saf...
