Re: Clip in type bogie removal and replacement of coupling.
Bit of a problem, the Hunt Couplings are somewhat brittle and broke when I tried to screw in the screw. Now waiting for some M2 nuts and bolts to be delivered.

Bachmann repair service
I am inexperienced in taking OO gauge models apart and when I burnt out the motor on a Bachmann A1 "Curlew" loco I dipped my toe in and quickly pulled it out again. I was asked to remove the DCC sound as it wasn't factory fitted, problem - one of the screws on the tender is directly under ...

Re: Clip in type bogie removal and replacement of coupling.
Have used a very small screwdriver to go between the bogie and the main body, pushed sideways and up and off popped the bogie easier than feared. Have drilled the open end of the rivet out using an Archimedes drill, once the splayed metal had been removed the rest of the rivet slid out. The hole in ...

Clip in type bogie removal and replacement of coupling.
I have a set of 3 Hornby Pullman coaches that I want to replace the couplings on. Picture of underside of bogie attached Firstly I need to remove the bogies so that I can work on them easier, they are a clip in type, that is two prongs with barbs pushed into a hole. How do I remove these bogies with...

Re: Hunt Couplings ELITE
Only just got around to trying them out as I've been very busy with volunteer work. Happy with the way that they work apart from one thing, they appear to reduce the flexibility of the whole train increasing the friction between the flange and rail on curves, to the point that the loco that had a sl...

Re: Hunt Couplings ELITE
I have a set of Pullman coaches with the wide tension lock couplings attached directly to the bogie, the do work very well, what’s more the hook is securely attached and cannot fall off. Unfortunately all the trucks in my coal train have narrow tlc’s in NEM pockets. As you said the most probable cau...

Re: Hunt Couplings ELITE
Have looked at KD’s several times but they haven’t ticked all my boxes yet. Haven’t ruled them out but haven’t purchased any yet.

Re: Hunt Couplings ELITE
Yes , they can only be manually uncoupled and doing that appears to be easier than with tension locks. My layout only has a relatively small goods yard and I have little scope or inclination for doing shunting or using uncoupling systems. I don't intend to mix wagons much, just have complete trains....

Hunt Couplings ELITE
I have recently added a new coal train to my layout, a total of 10 trucks and have been having some annoying decoupling problems (on top of the coupling hooks falling off previously posted about). Some occur at points, some at level crossings but most on a downhill incline with some curves, suspect ...
