Re: Airbrush Starter kits

Hi JIm Yeah the Air refers to Airbrush, not the transport mode. They don't do a colour match as such, so colours have to be picked or mixed. Camo Grey is a good wagon roof colour, and I mix 'brown' and burnt umber 50:50 for a good bauxite that matches my bachmann stuff. Black grey is a good dirty bl...

Re: Airbrush Starter kits

Thought I would swing back in and just give an update this. nearly a year on, I bloody love my airbrush set up, and have spent many happy evenings doing various little jobs, many of which escalate, becasue they can. I think i am beginning to find some limits in the airbrush that came with the kit, s...

Re: Airbrush Starter kits

So I got the kit I linked to earlier, thought I'd bob on and give some feedback. I only really got the chance to start playing over Christmas. Of course I'd nothing to compare it to, but that's probably something in its favour, because so far I'm pretty happy with it. The compresser seems to give a ...

Re: Airbrush Starter kits

Hi Steve, thanks, I'll look at those, paints was something I've only half thought about, I have some acrylics so was planning on watering those down, but some airbrush ready will help me sate my impatience safely, and show me what concentration I want - I have some low grade models and kit builds fo...

Re: Airbrush Starter kits

Well in the end it turns out its going to be a birthday present so I went with https://www.everythingairbrush.com/airbrushing-kits-brand/value-kit-range/finespray-kits/as-18-compressor-ab-180-airbrush-kit.html similar thing to above, and the kits I'd been looking at on amazon, but from a UK distrubu...

Re: Airbrush Starter kits

Yes I've been looking at similar things on Amazon, but I know nothing about them to know what to look for. Also I've read in the other thread about the standards and being a cyclist a know how they can render functional things useless so also would like to be future proofed as much is possible. How ...

Re: Advice on controller

I knew which controller that would be before I googled it. I had the same issue, though year ago so forget what was causing the short, but the controller seemed hyper sensitive to it. Got a gaugemaster, never looked back. If you think your boy might spend some years enjoying his trains then very muc...

Re: What makes a good layout?

Myself, to operate I like end to end shunting layouts, I like the process, and the puzzle side of it, I can see the appeal of prototypical operation for such layouts too (some very interesting techniques involving dice I've read about). This works for me at the moment with temporary "trainset&q...

Airbrush Starter kits

Greetings, on/off modeller here who lacks the space for permanent layout but is happily occupying himself with kits and weathering bits so one day I'll have a head start. Been weathering to OK effect with paints and powders for a while but feel increasingly tempted by an airbrush for more gradual an...
