Re: Ideal board?
Many thanks for all your useful replies👍 There will be 2 main board areas: 1) 18 feet x 3 feet.... (station area) 2) 14 feet x 3 feet.... (fiddle yard area) These areas will be made of several framed ply boards. What size framed boards should I make to suit...2x3, 3x3, 4x3??? Also, if I use ply for ...

Ideal board?
I have a very large waterproof garden shed in which I am going to create a 00 scale model of Severn Tunnel Junction circa 1965. I’m about to order plywood sheets but not sure which thickness to go for. Even though the shed is waterproof, I need to be realistic and accept that there will be varying h...

Re: To DCC bus or not
Thank you Brian.... a very helpful and comprehensive response. There will be approx 120 metres of peco code 100 track, essentially a large one down line: up line circuit with several junction points/slips and turntable... as this is my first dcc setups I’ve been reading up about the pitfalls and sol...

Re: 00/H0 scales??
Will do... I have recently built a substantial outbuilding which will house a scale creation of Severn Tunnel Junction including platforms, sheds and shunting hump (circa 1960)

Re: 00/H0 scales??
Thanks... the platforms are based on platforms at an existing mainline junction station which I have measured using a trundle wheel... I will now use 76 as the scale down factor..
Thanks very much

To DCC bus or not
I’m about to embark on building my first DCC layout and have read about the idea of soldering dropper wires from each piece of track to a wiring bus....
Why would this be better than soldering dropper wires from each piece of track to the next piece?
Cheers Rob

00/H0 scales??
I’m just about to work out the scaled down measurements from a real railway situation... platforms.... marshalling used and sheds area. I am using Peco code 100, metcalfe building kits and a range of Hornby/Bachman engines and rolling stock which tend to call themselves 00/H0.... Which scale should ...

Re: DCC wiring/points etc etc
If it’s essentially a double track layout of approx 120 metres total track length with bus supplying every piece of track with a max of four engines running would the NCE cab controller have enough grunt?

Re: DCC wiring/points etc etc
Thanks Fellas, great advice... much appreciated. I intend using droppers and a bus for the whole system and a useful tip re isolating one section in case. Yes, I was under the misapprehension that the a booster beefs up the supply for the whole system instead of just relying on the hand held unit. T...
