I have just spoken to Hornby. It looks as though this item is an interference fit or press fit. It should not turn too freely. Hopefully I will be able to send the item to them for repair.

I have now checked the main driving gear on the central driving wheel and it moves freely so this is the problem. I think I will try and contact Hornby to see if they can help.

After the problem I did take the motor out and checked it and it ran well.

The motor is located in the loco and the loco has one of those connectors that Hornby have to link the loco’s motor to the tender where the decoder is located so I did not need to touch the motor and it’s wiring.

Tried the check on the rails on the TT. The fault must be inside. Checked the continuity of both rails. One was okay. Turned the TT round by 180 set and the other rail was then faulty. So it would seem that the one supplied with one polarity is at fault.
