Re: Lockdown Layout
Not bad tips there. I had a couple of ideas, but I saw the smooth it products and thought I’d give them a try. It said use a mix of 2 parts cement mix, to 1 part water, but it dried far too quickly. So I did a 50/50 mix instead which I found worked much better and have a smoother finish. Although, I...

Re: Lockdown Layout
Morning all, Just a small update today. I’ve had to redo some of the road which I’d previously laid. I wasn’t very happy with the overall finish. I also realised that the pavement I’d put down was lower than the road which didn’t look right. So I widened the road and put the pavement down on top. I ...

Re: Lockdown Layout
Evening all, I’ve figured out why locos were stalling. The point wasn’t flat! I think maybe in the hot weather it’s become a little bent out of shape. So I’ve just tapped in a couple of pins to the outside of two of the sleepers and now there doesn’t seem to be any issues. Was a little worried I’d n...

Re: Lockdown Layout
Why hello everyone. It’s been a very long time since I’ve posted any updates. You’ll be pleased to hear the layout is coming on a treat and I have plenty of pics for you all below. I do have one nagging problem though-stalling on points. These are the bullhead points by Peco so designed for DCC runn...

Re: Lockdown Layout
Yeah I’ll check everything again tomorrow evening after work. I’m currently trying to pick apart tonight’s episode of Line of Duty so I’ll worry about it tomorrow.
Thanks for the help though. Much appreciated

Re: Lockdown Layout
I’ll be honest, I did have droppers there earlier but I removed them and replaced them with the standard bullhead fishplates. Since doing that it’s running a lot more smoothly. I think it’s because I bought the presoldered dropper fishplates and had to trim them slightly to fit(as the bullhead versi...

Re: Lockdown Layout
I'm not a technical wizard but where are your droppers located - and are the points all electrofrog? All my points are the unifrog type so everything should be live. My droppers are located on the end of the point, so on the single piece of track, not the fork. (Not sure on the correct term haha). ...

Lockdown Layout
Hi guys, Since the start of the new year I decided to build a new layout. My previous one was at my dads but with COVID I decided to move to my mums as I’ve got more space to work from home. It’s an 8ft x 2ft end to end DCC sound layout and I’m now at a point where I’m just finishing up the track wi...

Re: Use rolling road as programming track
Alright cheers guys.
I think my best option is to add in a splice connecting the main track to the rolling road, then just connect the controller to a pinned down piece of track and use that as a programming track.

Use rolling road as programming track
Hi all, Haven't been on here for well over a year now. Hope you're all staying safe in this crazy world at the moment. Since lockdown 3.0 I decided to build a new layout and have made some progress (I'll add some photos in another thread). I'm running a DCC sound layout and I was wondering how/if, I...
