Re: Underlay for tracks

It is non fibrous.... Yes I agree the for and against argument will always be there on the merits of using underlay. In my opinion it works, and we have found a cheaper option

Underlay for tracks

Got a cheaper option instead of cork underlay which would have cost us north of €400.00 this floor underlay cost us €150.00 approx and does the same job :D https://i.postimg.cc/0bpWFGjV/underlay-1.jpg https://i.postimg.cc/cvhD4sQY/underlay-2.jpg https://i.postimg.cc/MnqPScjq/underlay-3.jpg

Re: Underlay for tracks

Ballast in my opinion is just decorative, and has no effect on the running of the layout........Again when the stock is running with a cushion underneath its smoother

Re: Underlay for tracks

I would argue with respect .....that the rolling stock and trains have a more cushioned run, the underlay will absorb any lumps and bumps that the baseboard WILL have :)

Underlay for tracks

3mm thick floor underlay by 20 meters (60 ft roughly) long and its moisture proof off local builders provider €150.00 about £129.00, as opposed to €450.00..£387.00 for cork in roughly the same length and it does the same job

Just looking at some previous posts regarding CDU'S. I have approx 75/85 points on my layout, can any one suggest a particular size of CDU?
