It is non fibrous.... Yes I agree the for and against argument will always be there on the merits of using underlay.In my opinion it works, and we have found a cheaper option

Ballast in my opinion is just decorative, and has no effect on the running of the layout........Again when the stock is running with a cushion underneath its smoother

I would argue with respect .....that the rolling stock and trains have a more cushioned run, the underlay will absorb any lumps and bumps that the baseboard WILL have

Gives the rolling stock and trains a smother run its like a cushion between the hard base board and the track

Mine is similar to the cduc2 and has got the kick for 2 points I have a few crossovers on the layout

Just looking at some previous posts regarding CDU'S. I have approx 75/85 points on my layout, can any one suggest a particular size of CDU?
