Re: Converting point motors

Hi All,

Thanks for the information. Hornby one would be around AU$45 each so that would be a start. The DCC Concepts one is not shown on their website so I've asked for an update and cost to see if that comes out any cheaper.

Thanks again.

Converting point motors

Hi All, I'm in the process of upgrading my layout to DCC and have the Hornby Elite controller that is operated via a computer. So far, so good. Question: I have around 30 Gaugemaster solenoid points on the layout and wat to fit them with a DCC chip, or whatever is required, so that I can activate th...

Re: Points question

Hi Brian, Roj,

Thanks for you input greatly appreciated. As for dropper wires, yes I do include these on all sections of track, not relying on fishplates to make good, long lasting electical connections.

Points question

Hi All, I'm probably going to get roasted over this but I'm new to DCC and am just following what I have read. Why is it required that insulated fishplates are to be placed on frog ends when going over to DCC. I'm using insulfrog points so are these insulated fishplates really necessary. Best Rgds, ...

Re: Reccomended DCC controller for beginners

Hi Guys, Thanks for you replies and advice, greatly appreciated. I think at this stage I'll go for the Hornby 8213, mainly because of cost, whether I will out grow it's capabilities, I doubt it as I'm a bit long in the tooth at 74. As for going to a near by dealer and check them out, being in semi r...

Reccomended DCC controller for beginners

Hi all,

I'm in the process of rebuilding my layout ready to start on DCC operations but am unsure as to what brand/model controller would best suit a novice like myself.

Re: Street Road Base

Hi All,

Wet/Dry paper, never gave it a thought, and I have some in my shed!!

As for the Redutex sheets, yes they are expensive, but it's the postage that's the real killer. For the price some people want for stuff, I'd expect delivery within 24 hrs.

Thanks for your time.

Street Road Base

Hi all, I'd be interested to know what other modellers use on their layouts for street roads. Currently I use paper images which are OK up to a point but they tend to fade and come unstuck after a while. I did think about using fine sand and painting it but haven't gone down that path yet. Best Rgds...

Hi There,

Yes, I tend to agree with you, I think that I just wanted reassurance of that.

Street Lighting OO Gauge

Hi All, I'm about to place some street lighting on my layout and am looking for advice on distances between lights that others have used. I've checked out various web sites on the matter and the general consensus is between 30m to 50m, scaling that out, it comes in around 390mm to 660mm which seems ...
