Hello folks, This must have been asked by many people before (apologies if the answer is somewhere on this forum), I have an old Wrenn diesel shunter, and an even older Hornby Dublo one, both of which have developed the dreaded motor "squeek". I`ve given bot of them a light oil (neither ha...

Early Triang Jinty

Firstly season's greetings to one and all. I have three early Triang Jinties that I would like to rewheel and regear so they don't do 200mph flat out. I recollect years ago you could get a 60/1 or even an 80/1 gear box, and a replacement X04 motor coupled with Romford wheels. Anyone know if items su...

Re: Running DCC fitted locos on DC analogue

Thanks Brian for the advice, I will only ever be running DC so I think removal of the chip will be the way to go. I'm away from home at the moment so I will post a note re the catalogue number of the Grange once I get back. Incidentally when I took the loco out of its box it didn't look like it had ...

Re: Running DCC fitted locos on DC analogue

Thank you guys,
The Grange although brand new was bought 3rd hand so I have no idea who the original vendor was.
So failing any concrete info as to any wiring differences between Hornby and Bachmann DCC chips I may have to resort to trying to disconnect the chip - should be fun!

Cheers
Monte

Re: Running DCC fitted locos on DC analogue

Thanks guys for your kind replies. Steve - I'm just starting on a brand new layout so I only put together 4 new yard lengths on a piece of chipboard to test the locos on.The Grange is brand new and that was the first time out of the box. I haven't even looked inside it yet so any ideas as to what to...

Running DCC fitted locos on DC analogue

Folks, Sorry I'm sure this has been asked lots of times before, however I hope someone can help with this. I don't do DCC but I have recently acquired two DCC ready locos. Having read that you can run them on analogue, I carefully tried the 1st one, a Bachmann G2 0-8-0 which ran perfectly well ( I u...

Re: Coal mine operations question

Hi LC&DR, Firstly thank you so much for your very comprehensive reply. As my layout is based in the late 50s/very early 60s, and having read your info would I be right in thinking then that I could run purely BR wagons under the screens for a train made up of power station or domestic coal? Also...

When power stations received their coal however it arrived in BR wagons. So was the coal tipped out ...
