Re: WEST ORTON
Some painstaking work ahead of you Steve! The coaches will look very authentic with people populating them, looking forward to seeing the results.

Re: A Spontaneous Redesign
Thanks Rog, unfortunately it’s only half-finished. Whether it still looks as tidy when it’s finished will be a different matter!

Re: A Spontaneous Redesign
Recently I got stuck into the control wiring on my layout. This involved moving wires from old point positions to new ones, and belling out every wire to make sure the schematic was reflective of reality. I am now happy that I know where every wire goes, but I did find a short circuit between four p...

Re: Track underlay
I love the noise, https://youtu.be/s7z0tqKBVLM?si=iEN4JPHOy3GCBMwj Started a new layout this February and the first test run, link above, is what I love. Different sounds over different parts of the layout, bridges, tunnels etc. Ballast can change the sound slightly. Can’t beat a bit of clickety cl...

Re: Fundamental question on track quality
I made the foolish mistake years ago of buying many lengths of straight track from fleabay without checking the rail type. Most of the rusty straights now form my wagon sidings where a loco will never go near them.

Re: Track underlay
For those that pinned the track straight to the board, did you find the scatter ballasting process dampened the noise at all? I’m too far gone on my layout to consider underlay of any form, just curious if the ballast made an audible difference. I don’t mind a bit of noise, it adds to the realism.

Re: Passport turn around.
I renewed my passport online last year, it was a doddle. I later renewed my driving licence and I was able to use the same digital photo from the passport submission. As long as you give them enough information in the online application form, they can trace you and it’s a breeze. Much easier than th...

Re: A Spontaneous Redesign
I had a spurt of productivity this weekend and finally implemented ‘layout version 24’ in the nice weather, fuelled by zero percent beer (thanks to being on call for work). I had enough track to implement the desired new layout, with some tweaks that make the electrics much simpler. I have shifted t...

Re: Adverts/Donations/Sell the site
Would advertising raise sufficient funds to run the site for now and into the future?
I know adverts aren’t ideal but as long as they are embedded into the page I.E not popups, and don’t render the site unusable (especially on mobile devices) then I’d be a cagey yes for adverts.

Fantastic layout and rolling stock! Some fertile imagination has gone into that, great job.
