Hornby Castle
I have posted this on other forums in the hope of finding someone who has solved this problem I have a Hornby Castle "Wellington R3105. A very recent model but a non runner. The crankpin on the leading drivers foul the crosshead on a R2 curve and jam. The result is the slide bars disconnect fro...

Re: Hornby Castle
Thanks Gents. I think you are right. One of the crossheads and rods are upside down. Well trying to move the slides out slightly from the driving wheels they snapped. Oh well back to Peter's Spares but they are out of stock. Guess it goes into mothballs till I can get a new cylinder assembly .

Hornby Castle
In 2012 I bought R2459 Wellington a Hornby castle. My favourite class of loco. However this one has never been a good runner. You can have sessions and she runs as sweet as a bird. Then you reverse it and it stalls and stutters in both directions. So consequently it doesn't get much running. I decid...

Re: Speed of train
Watching an episode of Sams Trains, he had an old Hornby 0-6-0 flat out on 12 Volt and it reached something like 2 mph- a scale speed of 160 mph That's a leisurely walk speed. He increased it up to 50 volts and it went quite a bit faster. Not sure if the loco survived

Dapol Junction Bracket
Just bought and installed 2 Dapol motorised junction signals. Great looking bit of kit. One however has an LED which doesn't work. Spoke to Dapol and they were less than helpful, so I intend to return it even though I am in Australia. My question is how do you un-install it. The base clicks on to th...

Dapol Bracket signal
Gave up on my Ratio kits and splurged (and I mean splurged- they are not cheap) and I am really impressed. Look and operated brilliantly

Shunting Puzzle
I have 16 grand kids and none are interested in Grandpas layout other than to destroy it trying to run their toys cars on the roads. So I was pleased to see the latest article in September's RM on "A shunting Puzzle for the Grandchildren" A simple puzzle layout in a box using a Hornby 0-4-...
