Re: Farish starter set with EZ controller?

The EZ controller is a very basic Dcc unit, if your just going to have a small layout with a couple of loops i would go with DC control, sound in n gauge does not do anything for me its ok in OO or O gauges but not N. ( just my own personal likes ). The money that set sells for could be more wisely...

Farish starter set with EZ controller?

I am a total beginner just starting to plan a N gauge small layout - needs to fit in a 60"x30" board. Looking towards 3rd & 4th radius curves which if I've calculated right should fit. I am hoping for a double loop with a couple of crossovers and some points so nothing elaborate. I thi...

Re: Greetings from sunny Cheshire

I've asked about baseboard size and material in the relevant section. Starting from scratch means I have a variety of things to ask at this stage. Once I get started I can put everything into a layout thread - but for the time being is it ok to ask questions in different places? Some forums are ok w...

Re: Baseboard size for N gauge double oval

Next question.... If I go to a 30"x60" board that ought to be just about big enough to fit a double loop of 3rd & 4th radius. I don't have anywhere I can leave a layout permanently so it needs to be portable. Ply is quite heavy. When I built model aircraft I got into using a lot of foa...

Thanks. A slightly larger board it is then.

Thanks for the welcome. I’m afraid I’m likely to ask a lot of silly questions!

Baseboard size for N gauge double oval

Just starting my planning. My original idea was a 4x2 baseboard for a simple N gauge oval. But I think I’d want a double oval with some sidings in the centre. I’ve read that ideally you’d want the radius of the curves to be 11” to look right. So that suggests I need to use either 2nd & 3rd radiu...

Greetings from sunny Cheshire

Just introducing myself. My last encounter with model railways was over 50 years ago, when it was a 00 three rail layout that worked when it felt like it. The reason I find myself getting reaquainted with model railways is that I have a number of interests that are all outdoors and not much fun duri...
