Re: And another hobby.

I was just browsing and saw this posting. When I was younger, lunchtime at the Grammar school I went to, became school dinners or home only. We found a nice spot at Latchford locks to hide away with our fish and chips from the nearby chippie and just that bit too far for the miserable teacher who wo...

Re: Breakdown trains and their rolling stock

Well 2 years on and little movement until this week when I got hold of a Hornby Tool Van off Ebay for £5. Now all I have to do is get the transfers onto the coach and the other van. I haven't a clue what the correct numbering is so thaey are getting what looks OK from my transfer sheets. I assembled...

Re: Liveries by date

One of the daftest things I did and sometimes still do, is to buy a rake of coaches or a set of wagons for a specific engine. I have just bought a Dapol Prairie in BR Black and started looking for 3 ex GW coaches to suit. I also thought about goods wagons and Oxord do the best value for money these ...

Re: Liveries by date

Yes we also had stupid names hitting the scene when the record player man took over the WCML with trains (engines end) named after daft BBC dress shows. Where are the electric locos with the brave drivers names eg "Wallace G Oakes GC" I am fully aware that vinyl wraps are used and that is ...

Re: Hornby Club

I joined the club several years back and in the end decided to pack it in as I was sick of crappy 0-4-0 locos steam and diesel. Then a few years ago two club exclusive Britannias. I had to have them, so I rejoined. Great, both arrived damaged. I searched high and low for a chime whistle for one and ...

Re: Liveries by date

I too habe done the same buying what I fancied and veering away from BR 1948-68. In theory I could easily change eras before or after. I am now getting BRITISH RAILWAYS on locos to give that switch over period. Regarding new rail stock or whoever today's owner is, I have given up on that. :o

Re: New etched brass nameplates

On my Britannias I have used Pritt with great success. The beauty of it, is that any excess can be removed with a damp cotton bud. 20 sets so far with no problems. ;)

Re: Super Quick for the Super Dumb

Probably a bit late now but you have almost completed the kit. There are several pieces that are cappings if you look at the completed pictures on the packaging. Regarding the door to nowhere, it could be an entrance to the rear of the building or a private garden area. Suitable vegetation could be ...
