Dashcam

Post by RogerB »

If anyone is interested in getting a dash cam this one is supposed to be quite good. £23 on Amazon and £8 for the SD card - and yes, it's a Class 10 card (thank you whoever said that).

I've just fitted it - I'll let you know if its rubbish.

It was me Rog..........Interested to hear if it works well as I am thinking of getting one. The drivers in Berwick and around here are a night mare. They all seem to think they are all taking part in a rally only with out the rules.. They don't take any prisoners around here they are mad.
Quite different from Cumbria where we have moved from. The drivers over there are quite good and considerate..............John

Definitely worth fitting these days.
Mate of mine fitted one in his wife’s car at 15:30 and at 16:15 it was written off by an idiot turning across her bows, all caught on camera, the recording from which the Police attending showed the culprit who coughed on the spot to being guilty.

Dash cams are a great idea. I have a Nextbase one & I'm really pleased with it. One thing to watch out for, is many cameras data log your journey & also log the speed. So watch out for this as you could also drop yourself in it if you was a few MPH over the speed limit. The nice thing with Nextbase is that you can turn it off. But well worth having as i am sure many of these people that try it on for an insurance claim check to see if you have a dash cam before they dive in front of you & jam on the breaks.
Good way to test a dash cam is reading a cars registration. If you can't read it a change to a different resolution may help.

As someone who has been known to trawl You Tube, it would be boring without the dashcam videos, especially the ones from Russia.

Well, I can honestly say that for £20 or so this is a perfectly functional little camera. Not yet used all the options but time will tell. Happy enough to buy another one for car #2. R-

What's it's full resolution, all it says on the box is 1080, but is that 1080x720 or 1920x1080

Thanks

It seems you can alter the video resolution. The tech specs suggest these options.

1920 x 1080 (the default and how I have left mine)
1280 x 720
640 x 480.

Does that help? R-
