Any bikers on the forum?...

not been on for a while, doing other stuff, but today i bought a motorbike, and just wondered if there are any other bikers on the forum, haven't got it yet though but it is in the style of a Harley soft tail cruiser, only a 125cc and got my CBT booked for the 18th, would be great for a ride out if anyone in the Donny area,

First time I put it through a hedge, second time I won my class in a local club trial event.
Quit while I was ahead.

Same here Steve. Road my brother-in-laws around his garden, it was a large garden, twice and decided rather him than me. Rather him than me.

Did ride pillion on a Vincent Black Knight, does that count?

I've been riding since 16 and still do - a streetfighter has been my weapon of choice for the last 17 years - remember streetfighters anyone? Modified road bikes invented before the major manufacturers stole the term and started churning out their own versions to the masses. Unfortunately I live in the north-east so a bit too far from Donnie. Get a full license, upgrade and enjoy yourself. Bare in mind that many car drivers believe that they own the road, (whereas us bikers know we do!!!!!!!!!). Seriously though - stay safe.

Not been on a bike since the mid 80's, last coupler were a Suzuki GS750 and Honda CB750K6, Moved onto cars after spending a few weeks in intensive care (what a whimp I know) although that was between the two already listed, I had to have transport whilst I learnt to drive a car.

I still have my last bike, a Honda Dream CB400T, which I last rode in 1996. It's been in my garage since then with the intention of getting it running again. A couple of weeks ago, I had to empty my garage while the landlords did some work on the block of garages and the bike is now in my back garden, under a cover. Maybe a bit nearer to getting back on the road?

I got my first bike (A Francis Barnett 150cc) in 1964. It was a bit of a heap, so I traded it in for Honda 90, the bike looking one NOT the scooter type, and eventually passed my test on it. I then moved up to a Honda CB77, but my friends persuaded me to go British, so I sold that and with the cash bought a second hand Triumph T100A (500cc twin ), and set about turning it into a Café Racer. Low handle bars, rear-sets and a Peel fairing. Had a great time riding the back lanes of Kent, showing off with my mates, drinking gallons of coffee (flavoured with motor oil) at a certain café in the A20 near Brands Hatch. Despite it having 17 inch wheels I was able to get my T100a up to the ton, down hill with a following wind! Carried on with it until 1971 when I got married and SWMBO suggested I wasn't going to live too long if I continued to ride it. I sold it to one of my mates for what I paid for it!

That wasn't quite the end of my biking days. A couple of years later I got a Honda 175 so I could get to 'call-outs' on the railway in East Kent. By then I had calmed down somewhat. However after moving to Sheffield my boss wasn't too keen on me taking the staff wages out on a Thursday strapped to my bike carrier. So I got rid of the Honda and used my motorbike licence to drive a Reliant Robin .

I haven't ridden a motor bike since, and now I am 70+ I don't think I will be doing it again.

Johnsons Cafe LDCR just passed the Portabello Pub, spent a load of time on the pinball machine, various bikes going down Death Hill on a Tiger 110 sort cruising doing 100 mph the front tire burst the bike hit a clearway sign by the bungerlow halfway down i ended up down the country lane, all i remember is the swerving, woking in Hospital (West hill) 4 days later right arm, left leg in plaster pain in the neck cracked a vertebra various other minor ailments palatalized right arm came back to life after around 4 months, so 9 months later i went back to work on a nice shiny Bonneville ( 9 month unspent sick pay) this bike ended up fully tuned and would do over 100mph going up Death Hill, my biking days ended with a 1 year speeding ban probably save my life...its a lot more dangerous on the roads now back in the mid 60's there were a 10th of the drivers on the roads, take care OP
