Doube sided tape.

Post by footplate1947 »

I have used for ages Double sided tape (I suppose you would call this a tool) for sticking on name and number plates on locos. Now I find I have a problem. I used up my last roll which I have had for years. The tape I am talking about is the thin stuff not the thicker foam type. It is not much thinker than Selo Tape. Perfect for fixing Name and Number plates. I went on ebay and ordered new roll of it when it arrived first time I used it, it did not stick firmly like the old stuff I have been using for years it stayed tacky and was easy to remove or move plates out of position. Unlike the old stuff which had grip like Godzilla. and once the plate was on it was on for good.

Does anybody know of a brand which is better than the one I have just bought. I tossed it in the bin. I went out and bought some more in my local shop and it was almost as bad as the stuff from ebay which by the way was from China. I dont know they call it progress.

Double sided carpet tape is very strong. I've used it to secure photo backdrop onto thin ply.

The carpet stuff is extremely strong, in fact you could probably use it to stick down a carpet.
