They originally only asked for £500.
We originally hoped for £500 to fund some of our rebuilding costs.
then raised it to £75,000.
£57,973
raised of £75,000 target by 3545 supporters
That's a big difference in what they thought was needed.

As the news was "worldwide" donations have been pouring from around the world. I note that a number of US and Australian model railway clubs have ade donations. I think the just giving site says donations have been received from almost four thousand people - at a £5-£10 per head donation, it mounts up. Good for them. I expect many of the "senior" members of the club are getting to old to start again.

Yes I do know that. No amount of money will replace the work put in.

Apparently, Rod Stewart has donated £10000 and asked Jools Holland and Roger Daltrey and others to do the same. £61000 raised so far.

Is that sum on top of their insurance claim?
We insure our exhibition layouts to whatever the layout owner specifies. 2019 is £81,000. Traders have to source their own cover.

Surely some blame falls here upon the School. Should they not have some kind of security in place and make sure the area is locked up properly if they are going to be letting areas out for profit within the school. I assume the club are not using the building for free.

Schools are generally very secure. If some idiot wants to get in they will regardless of security.

Believe me Brian after spending 25 years in the Essex County Fire and rescue Service I am well aware of the antics the local idiots can get up to. I could tell you some story's that would make your hair curl. The Fire Engine was even shot at one night.
