New Train Service for Armadilloville
New Train Service for Armadilloville
Slowly working along until I can resume my attention to "Henley." Spent a solid
eight hours refitting an empty Varney shell, circa 1960's with power and
bogies. The single axle bogies of the coaches and rear of the locomotive
positively refused to track, and finally upon an inspiration, I hacked up
some spare OO wagons, and now they track rather nicely!

Re: New Train Service for Armadilloville
By any chance, do you have a whole view of this funny layout ? Or maybe, just the track plan ? Thanks.
Re: New Train Service for Armadilloville
Hope this helps, as far as its design goes, it started out as something more complex that didn't work as well, so
the mainline was reduced to a simple overlapping oval with two spurs upon a 4x8. The fanciful additions are
inspired by my interests in vintage and dinosauria. I try to keep any additions to it very, very cheap.
This was the original track plan, which I built, and found it rather unsatisfactory, particularly with its narrowly
facing pair of turnouts. In my estimation, the Hornby Trackmats are of a superior design and utility.

Great layout Chops. The more I see the more I like. Shame the original layout didn't work out so well.
Re: New Train Service for Armadilloville
Thanks, Dublo. Armadilloville has proved rather a distraction from my OO efforts. Yes, the original design was not
effective, nor particularly clever, in my estimation. Again, I am in awe of some of the amazing track plans
in this Forum. My own learning curve is that simple is more reliable, and more reliable is more enjoyable.
I've done complex and I've done simple, simple is better. That being said, my hat is off to those artisans
that can create megaplexes.
The charming toll house you sent me is sitting on the edge of Henley, awaiting proper attention.

Hello Chops
I think you may have me mixed up with some one else. I know nothing about a charming Toll house. I never cease to be amazed at the variety and scope of all the layouts in this forum and others. It just goes to show how diverse our hobby truly is. I am also one for reliability and fun.
