The previous head shut at the right end of the outer line has been extended into a full track, which will allow trains to arrive and depart at almost the same time. With the addition of this, the points to that mess of a turning loop have been removed, as there is no requirement for it anymore in my eyes and it is too short to hold a full train. This now leaves me with a small line between the quarry and up lines, which I could use as a coal yard. However, most of the coal yards I have seen on layouts are usually sidings, so I want to know if what I'm planning is realistic at all before going ahead.
