old track

#1

Post by Chilternturbo »

Hi all,
I have a lot of old Hornby nickel silver track and points with motors attached. If this stuff no longer viable and should I just dump it.

It all depends on condition. Certainly, if it were steel then the bin would be the best option.

Thanks Steve, it's the track that is painted silver so it does look like a trip to the dump.

Never dump old track as it has so many uses.
This little waggons frame was made using rail from old 00 gauge track...
These point levers were also made from old 00 gauge rails...
Plenty of uses...

I agree with Mountain Goat. Even if there's no immediately apparent application for old track, don't just throw it away. Stick it in a box and stash it on the shelf somewhere, coz no sooner have you parted with it, you'll wish you hadn't.

Neat lever frame, MG. Are all your points (and, I suppose, signals) operated in this way?

Cheers,

They will be if all goes to plan. I will need to make a few more levers and some signals.

Such a task would be a bit daunting on my layout, MG. Have you made jigs etc to aid mass-production?

Cheers.

Not really. I maybe able to post some pictures of how I made the point levers... I have them on my other tablet.
