Trouble at t' mill

#1

Post by LC&DR »

I have just received an email from Hattons cancelling all my Bachmann pre-orders, with no explanation.

Am I being paranoid, or does this signal difficulties at Barwell?

Has anyone else had a similar message? All my Hornby pre-orders are still intact.

I believe Hattons are in dispute with Bachmann for some reason. It was discussed on rmweb some months ago.

It does seem like Hattons and Bachmann have now failed to settle there differences and have now stopped dealing with each other.

It would be courteous to give an explanation though. R-

Wishful thinking Roger, i doubt you will find the answer, at least Hattons have informed all who have pre-orders with them.

Long thread on R M Web forum. Rattles thrown out of cots by both firms. Hattons are not budging.

So what's the problem? I know Hattons fell out with Hornby earlier this year after bringing out their own version of a loco.

I don't read RM web.

For some time now Hattons haven’t been getting new Bachmann stock. The occasional one pops up but not much.

Apparently it all started when Hattons announced their own 66 model, to which Bachmann objected. Things went from bad to worse as hattons resented, objection. Bachmann seem to regard Hattons as a retail outlet, not an occasional, manufacturer. Given Hattons size and turnover, it does seem curious they would cut off their nose to spite their face, but, this appears to be the case. They are both now entrenched..

Same with the Terrier. Hattons accused Hornby of rushing their Terrier out to spoil things for Hattons. Simon Kohler at Hornby said hang on, you are a retailer we are a producer, you are treading on our toes. He was right.
