Whilst on a regular business trip to Munich yesterday, I was waiting for the S-Bahn back to the airport when I came across a lot of BS...…"Bavarian Shunters", of course.
The nice little blue one was a picture to behold as it came thru the station hurtling down the fast line at what must have been close to its top speed, whilst the other two were in the marshalling yard behind the station at Laim, both attached to permanent way wagon's containing cherry pickers.
The centre of Munich is just a mass of railway lines going in all directions, with depots and collecting yards galore........standing on the platform a few stops away from the Hauptbahnhof, it was so nice to see proper locomotive hauled trains forming regional services as they entered / exited from the Central station.
Auf Wiedersehen
PS - Sorry but I just cannot seem to get the photos to loaded in portrait even although they are when viewed on my laptop - strange.
What a lot of BS......
Re: What a lot of BS......
Yes, it is nice to see lots of loco hauled trains still even on many local services in much of Europe (though the number of new DMus and EMUs is increasing). Lots of locations still seem to have a station pilot which is nice to see - watched one at Aachen earlier this year fussing about the station with odd coaches and vans.
