You really should allow the battery to run down and recharge to maintain the battery in good condition, but if you never go mobile with the laptop, it doesn't really matter.

Agreed, i only now use mine for the trains ( railmaster ), so this time of year, not on. Our mobiles were supplied by Noah, and go for months , without need to be charged, as sit in our cars as emergency, only. Over here, 99% of suppliers, insist you use your pay as you go cards, within 3 months, which are no use to us. We use Lecleric, cards, which have no time limit. Have never had an ipad problem with charging, plug both in, at bedtime, and unplug at 07.00.

My son had his phone battery overheat only last week and our other son has his iPad charger melt last year. Before that happened I used to leave mine charging at night.

My Vodafone pay as you go account will stop working if I don't make a call or send a message at least once every three months. I then need to top it up, even if there is still credit left, to get it working again.

I recently tried to use mine and found it did not work :( . It connected after I dialed but would not transmit or receive any audio. I put another ten pounds on the account to add to the nine pounds odd left from the last time I made a long journey. I bought a new (similar one) which will do any emergency calls I need to make whilst on the road. I only check it and its state of charge prior to setting off.

I use my mobile all the time to contact the kids, mostly by text, talk to my sister, she doesn’t have land line, to get appointment reminders from the doctor, dentist, vet (not for me), plus dozens of other things.

I reckon the old I only use my phone for emergencies and keep it in the car is a blast from the past much like I only play music on cylinders. Move with the times guys, you use the internet so are almost there.

Hang on a tic, mobiles in France, ain’t cheap. Would be about 30 quid a month. My calls inc international are totally free, part of my orange deal. Why would I incur costs I can avoid. John
