SHADDEHOLME
Re: SHADDEHOLME
The ‘water’ is clear casting resin with a touch of Humbrol weathering powder mixed in to tint it while still leaving it clear. You can see the anchor chains below the waterline. The ripples are made by stippling the drying resin with a clean paintbrush.
I’ll try and get a picture if I can.

Truly a masterpiece. Those Mallards (did I get that right?) just take it to a new level of modelling, if I may say. Is there any chance you might post a video of some of these workings? Ah, just noticed those locks. That is supreme, simply supreme. I submit, then I see another detail! That sea gull upon the anchor chain. Who does that??? Please, a video!!!!!

A couple of old clips - the layout has evolved quite significantly since these were shot.

Re: SHADDEHOLME
I must say the water really looks real. Also the mud is very effective.
Funnily enough... I was looking as a picture someone had put of what I thought was part of his layout. It looked so real... It turns out it was a real place!

ANother member was enquiring about a quayside on my layout - just realised that the original photos got lost in the ‘great Flickr purge of 2018’ so I’ll these up as replacements.

Taking these pictures (and inspecting the layout as a whole) has made me realise what a truly awful layout this is. I’ve done no work on it for nearly 18 months, it’s dirty, the track layout is not great - it may have to suffer a major change or go completely.

I think you do yourself an injustice...
Looks damned good to me.

Steve, you set yourself such high standards. Your layouts are way above what many mere mortals could achieve . Don't be so hard on yourself and accept that your work will inspire many others to enjoy this amazing hobby.
Best wishes.
