Re: Lostock Junction
Some views of Lostock Junction goods shed, both under construction and in-situ.
It's based on a scale drawing of a Great Central one I found in a model railway magazine a few years ago, although I had to shorten it to fit the space available (a familiar tale!).
My local one at Northwich was to a similar design (not surprising as the Cheshire Lines Committee was part owned by the GCR).

Consolidation Country
Must be a Sunday morning as Lostock Junction shed is nearly full. Locos visible are five 'consolidation' 2-8-0s (one WD, one Robinson O4 and three Stanier 8Fs), a Jinty 0-6-0 tank and a BR Standard Class 5 4-6-0.

Very nice. Thanks for sharing.

Evocative of a lost time and place. A British railway Atlantis. Superbly executed.

Re: Lostock Junction
Thank you for your kind comments.
My inspiration for the loco shed area was memories of going round my local shed (8E Northwich) in 1966/67. By that time most of the locos were really grubby 8Fs, which is probably why it is still my favourite class.
The model shed is the same style as the actual one at Northwich, but only two roads as opposed to the four of the original. Chester Northgate was two roads, so there is a precedent (although mine had to be shortened a bit too to fit the space available).
Re: Lostock Junction
Never actually visited a shed in the days of steam, but in the nicest possible way, this ooze’s the smoke, dust and grim laden environment that I imagine smaller local working sheds to be like in that era - nice job
Re: Lostock Junction
That should of course read “smoke, dust and grime laden environment” and not grim laden environment - LOL
