I couldn’t get there but watched a lot of action on live webcams.i notice the southern locos really struggled with the loads wheel slipping on Friday but the rest of the weekend seemed to be double headed so they could manage , The Hall I found very impressive flying up Goatland bank no problem. On Saturday two guys were standing under the camera rambling on I wander if they realised there conversation was on the net. All in all I was very impressed the only problem was the live feed kept dropping out because of high use. I wish I could have gone there maybe next year.

They certainly put on a good show. I think it has become a little too popular - Grosmont was rammed full on Saturday and very difficult to move around comfortably. Much quieter yesterday but as I said before, very wet.
Good news though, the camera seems ok and I've just booked next year's holiday to coincide with the gala again.

As usual, a few photos from this year's gala. A bit damp, and very crowded - but already re-booked for next year. :D

Nice photos, I’ll have to try and make it next year as I spent most of the three days watching it on live steam anyway such a variety of locos , for me all that was missing was a Large LMS Pacific and the mix would have been perfect.

Thanks Roger, as you saw on their cameras it was extremely busy this year, so if you go next year, I would aim for the Friday. That’s what I plan to do.

Two videos this year. Complete with camera shake (even though I was trying out a new phone mount) and some ‘focus hunting’ as it seems autofocus gets confused by lots of steam.
