Latest mini update.

Sanded back the filler on my test piece. It felt very smooth by the end. A quick trip to my spray booth and it shows much more work was needed.

This is why I decided to practice this, and it seems to be a good idea.

In other news, my first ever brand new loco has arrived.

Was that car body filler? If so, it’s always going to need a lot of work to ‘lose’ the edge. Try some Deluxe Materials white putty as it is very fine, fast drying and designed for modelling.

Second effort, much better. Just need more patience when sanding.

Using 60, 120 then 240 papers.

Framed the openings for the loading docks and staff entrance. Will clip the ends once dry.

Sets like concrete - too much like hard work.
I would recommend a 400 grit or finer, used ‘wet’ to avoid or minimise scratches. As a comparison, I use 2000 grit to flat car paintwork before buffing.

The patient appears to have survived, and a missing ladder has been transplanted. A little tidying to do, but all ok.
