My layout is about 3ft high. I sometimes wish it was higher but that isn’t feasible

As I operate my layout from the centre I usually stand.

I do have a tall seat but don’t seem to spend much time on it. My layout is round the edge of an 8ft square room and I like to follow the trains round so sitting facing one way wouldn’t work, and I need to reach my handraulically operated points.

I store loads of stuff under the layout and never sit with my legs under it. Maximum operating time an hour on a good day. I often spend several hours fiddling about with the layout and then realise I haven’t run anything.

If I need to look at the layout from an eye level perspective I bend down.

If I might, as the Germans say, "add my mustard", my layout is 1.1 metres (some 3'7") above the floor, which allows me to reach across at least to the middle of the board. To view the trains at eye level, I will be able to sit on an ordinary chair. Normally, when operating, I will stand.

Cheers,
Artur
