Compact Flash (as opposed to SD cards) are either 3.3 mm or 5 mm thick so the aperture should be slightly larger still depending on the CF card type (I or II) it accepts.

Yes of course, I had my SD head on.

I’ve never had a camera with a compact flash card.

I bought mine 20 years or so ago. At that time, compact flash, was the order of the day, or so camera shop said. All SLR cameras in shop were compact flash. This is the first problem i have had, to be fair, and it is not with the actual cards. they just need all the pins to fit.
