Is bigger - better?

I've just discovered a YouTube series called "Mckinley Railway". It's a UK layout with an era of 1956-75. It probably says somewhere how big it is, but to give you some indication of size, there storage yard will hold one hundred and eighty, yes 180, full sized trains - they only run 8-coach passenger length trains, although some freights are longer. They have some four hundred coaches, all lit and populated - they bought three thousand, yes 3000, seated passengers. It's a DCC layout, but needs numerous operators, it doesn't appear to be a club layout as it's in someone's home. I have added one youtube clip as a taster - it's worth a look, but it's not a layout to just switch on an play trains.

It may be at somebody’s home but I reckon it can still be classed as a club. Has a team of people building it. Good find BB. Better make a start extending mine

The house was bought specifically to house the railway. AFAIK nobody actually lives there.

I've just watched one of the earlier videos, and David (the owner) said he spent a long time looking for a house where he could use all of the top floor for the layout - not a loft or attic. There appears to be holes in walls all over the place allowing the railway to run from one room to another. The helix is huge - five tracks with a drop/rise of 1"/100".

Have been subscribed to their channel for some time. It's mind boggling what they do and how they control it and wire it. The cost must be extortionate
