I would like to have a turntable on my layout.
Other than Hornby (which is much more elaborate than I would like!), what options are there?
Is it possible to scratch build your own?

Re: Turntable
Have a look at the kit from Peco - excellent model which can be easily motorised with a kit fro Locomotech.

Re: Turntable
I also went with the Peco offering but then went with the Merg Turntable controller & Motor, now have a fully indexed motorised turntable for under £100 with the closest commercial option being around £500.

Re: Turntable
I have the same as Steve M and WTD - in fact I have two. The Locomotech turns so slowly that it is very easy to line-up the tracks when turning. The motor has a gearbox attached and it turns at 2rpm. Of equal importance, it is very quiet. I see very recently that Peco have now produced there own motor attachment for the turntable - I have not read any reviews, so don't know how good this is. The Locomotech motor is a solid piece of kit.
The Peco turntable is very easy to assemble.
