COPPA (American child protection law)

I've just sat through 2 videos of regular Model Railway channels where they're considering stopping the production of videos because YouTube has now decided to enforce laws across their network, written in America for Americans, because they have lost a legal case.

I'm sure many of us will miss the good videos on 'how to', the running sessions, development of various layouts and the reviews of new items.

It's not a new law, the enforcement by YouTube is however new!

When I uploaded a video last Monday 18th, YT asked a question if the video contained any images of children? No it didn't, so all was ok and it uploaded and is viewable.

It's a bit of an odd one

Is it aimed at children, Yes ok post it but no one will be able to find it using the search function, only people you have provided with the link will be able to view it.

Is it aimed at children, No ok post it and it will be searchable but if we find it contains stuff that might attract children (like Trains) you might be fined. Even though there is nothing wrong with your content.

Another ill throughout law coming out of California and being forced on the rest of the world, not sure how they are going to prosecute someone outside America though.

They seem to manage it in the cases of hacking by teenagers in their bedrooms in Wales and Scotland.

If you are clever enough to hack but stupid enough not to hide behind multiple vpns they you deserve to be extradited.

I suspect charges of breaching national security are viewed differently to charges of showing train videos to children at an extradition hearing, especially in any country other than the stupid UK

Mentioning the stupid UK? I see a woman in Utah is being prosecuted because her children saw her without her top on in her own home. If we are stupid heavens knows what that makes the Americans.
