OO gauge fencing
OO gauge fencing
I want to add some lineside fencing to my branch line. Simple post and wires type thing. I'd like to build it myself - any tips please and how to get the scale right.
Thank you.
Thank you.

Re: OO gauge fencing
Matchsticks make excellent posts and fuse wire, if you can find any, makes wire. You can also just strip the insulation from power wire. Cotton can also be used. Lots of plastic fencing in different designs also available.
As for scale, well 1 inch equals 6 feet.

WTD - thank you. The answer to my fencing questions in a few words! 3 Amp fuse wire and matchsticks seems to way ahead.
Glue the fuse wire to the posts? They'll be hard to drill!

Anyone used fine Fishing line for the fencing? Just a thought! Back to sleep now.

I have used plastic fenceposts from Ratio - pre-drilled, which makes life easier.
The fence at the back uses fishing line painted grey/rust while the one at the back of the coal yard is a couple of strands of copper wire twisted together and painted green

"Not very stable, but incredibly versatile."

Look for cooks matches or Extral Long Matches if you want a sturdier fence
They are thicker than ordinary matches as well as being longer. Useful for other jobs too.

Use a good quality matchstick i.e. branded. I found that cheapos were not cut square and they often split when drilled. I drilled each of mine 3 times and used a single strand of wire threaded through each hole and looped - mind you, I am sad and too tight to buy ready-made. They are however very delicate when placed on the layout.
