PL-10 & PL-10e Pin

#1

Post by Stese »

Hi,

Hopefully a question that can be answered quickly... what are the pin lengths of the peco PL-10 and PL-10e please?

Peco don't seem to list it on their website!

TIA,

30mm on the PL-10E as indicated by pink lines.

Thanks Rog!

I'm awaiting a response from Peco on the PL-10.

I think i'll have to go with PL-10e for my baseboards.

Bear in mind that if they do come up short, you can extend the pin with a bit of piano wire and a small brass sleeve to join to the existing pin. Secure carefully with cyano glue.

Thanks Steve, I'll keep that in mind.

I've had a response from peco... first here is my question :-
Please could you let me know the length of the pin on the PL-10 and PL-10e. I'm not sure which will fit on my layout!
here is the response...
PL-10 motors are for direct fitting to turnouts, and PL-10E motors have a longer pin for below baseboard fitting which will suit baseboards up to 5/8” thick.
Helpful!

*sigh*

I've replied back stating I have a specific application in mind, and need the pin lengths...

But their answer is correct regarding the PL-10: it can only be used via directly fitting to the turnout and this requires a big hole to be cut into your baseboard.

hi RFS,

1. While it may be what Peco specify, it's not true. You can simply bend the mounting pins out and using a pair of large head screws, mount under the baseboard. (See https://www.brian-lambert.co.uk/Electrical_Page_3.html for an example)

2. It's specifically not what I asked. While I appreciate the response, he's assumed my intent, and not answered the question...
