Painting and Weathering Service
Re: Painting and Weathering Service
The purists probably won’t like this one. Some 31s were named in 1999 (including 31459) but I’ve not been able to find confirmation that it had the nameplate, blue livery and the grey roof at the same time - but after some discussion it was decided to present it like this:

I’ve refitted all the parts I removed prior to painting apart from the buffer beam pipes - next is finding a big enough bucket of mud to make it ‘dirty’.

Fantastic work Steve......maybe not too big a bucket of mud is reqd - perhaps just enough to make it look used - LOL

Well, I reckon this one is just about done. Buffer beam detail added and a few shades of black and brown to give it a ‘used’ but not decrepit appearance.

Re: Painting and Weathering Service
It might not be the correct colour for the name but I wouldn’t say no to it.
Nurse, the screens!
Re: Painting and Weathering Service
This Hound Dog thinks that “Cerberus” - the Hounds of Hades, looks the Dogs B•••••ks !.........absolutely no concerns about name, number or colour being non - prototypical - will work perfectly fine for the era I am modelling.
Thank you Steve for your time and expertise in turning a loco which would have probably spent its life in a box at the back of the cupboard, into one that I am sure will be a firm favourite on my layout.

Brilliant job - looks real - who cares whether the nameplate is correct or not. Very well done.
