Remarkable photo essay. I dare say I do find the B&W photos evocative. Perhaps I'm a bit daft,
but I find myself envying those plate layers working in the fresh earth under a gray sky.

One of those steam cranes was restored to working order a few years ago at the Blist Hill Victorian village by enthusiasts for a tv program and since them as been left outside in all weather and never run again, such a shame and what makes it worse is that it an industrial museum that’s neglecting it.
