bachmann tender coupling

hi can anyone help me to locate a bachmann j39 front tender coupling as the one on mine is broken where the hook goes under the back of the loco and keeps un coupling its self from the loco when under load and this very annoying or is there a simple fix out there i can use any help on this will be most welcome as the loco is a very good runner and i donnot want to not be able to use it regards bob

Can you post a picture of it?

Is it just a vertical plastic pin pointing up. I once had one break and drilled a hole and replaced it with a track pin.

yes its a vertical pin type

If it is just the pin that is broken cut the remainder off, drill an appropriate sized hole and insert a replacement pin. I used a track pin. A small nail cut to the right length or anything else will do.
