Some days my grandsons' arrive and they 'run the show'. Today I have lost it. I lost control. My three year old 'train daft' younger granddaughter arrived.

My last layout was like that in that I had built two duplicate control panels for my youngest brother to join me. He mastered the cab control common return non biassed system at the age of three. Made me feel pleased that I made it that easy to use.
He was changing points, setting routes and switching in and out of track sections with ease.
At about a year old he used to be lifted up to see which tunnel the dissapearing train would come out of next! He loved trying to work it out.

Yes, I don’t get a look-in when the grandchildren arrive! And after they leave its as bad as the aftermath of a pilots strike – everything in the wrong place

I have the same challenges. Not only are rolling stock where they shouldn't be, but my collection of road transport that are on the layout are moved around also. Sometimes it can take 20/30 minutes to put things back in their correct place.

One advantage of grand-children is that that normally go back to their home & let you "play" in peace - not like your own children.......( that is, if they are interested in the hobby)

My grandson is 7 3/4 (as he says). He likes nothing better than causing havoc on our little layout. When he leaves, he leaves a trail of destruction in his wake.

I wouldn't have it any other way !
