New Shop.

Post by bulleidboy »

We are always reading about "model" shops closing down, well we now have two in Basingstoke. Hampshire Models Ltd has recently opened - it is located at Unit 29, Basepoint Business Centre, Stroudley Rd, Basingstoke RG24 8UP. To anyone who knows Basingstoke, the shop is located in the small business park which is located across the road from the council recycling area (Wade Road)/the tip. I have yet to go exploring, but from the photographs the shop has a good stock from all of the major suppliers, as well as a large range of secondhand loco's - the business started as an e-shop.

No good for me to 'pop-in' but here is a link to their e-shop.

I'll stick to my local shop. It's a lot nearer.

Glad to hear of one opening , though.

I found "Hampshire Models" by chance a few months ago, it's become my "go to" shop for most things now, thankfully being fairly local and I pass by on the M3 it's only a 5-10 minute detour (traffic willing) to get there.

Certainly a good range of stock on the shelves to satisfy most tastes, some N OO and O on the shelves, plus more "out the back" that there just isn't room for but always worth an ask. Prices are comparable to most of the 'box shifters' and of course if you go in you're likely to find more things that you didn't know you needed.

Parking can be an issue as it's quite a busy little estate but there's usually somewhere even if it's not right outside. But there's always mail order, of course.

Hi - I suppose my era is early fifties until 1967 (end of steam)- BR Southern Region and 00. My layout is "Wykeham - somewhere in the south" under members layouts.
I've been into Hampshire Models today, and they have a fairly comprehensive range of stock - I'm sure I will be in there again - soon. It's certainly worth a visit for anyone in the area. BB
