Snowing in Finse, Norway

This is some serious snow - and the trains are running.

If you click on "Change Camera" and then click on "International" and then Canada - Revelstoke, British Columbia, Canada, life still manages to carry on even when it's snowing - I think there eight hours behind the UK.

Slightly more prepared for snow than we are. Have you put your snow/ice tyres on yet?


When I was in Bergen some years ago it started to snow. I said to the guy who picked us up to take us to the ATC headquarters that I expect the snow was hardly noticed by the locals. He said you must be joking it’s pandemonium for the first 24 hours, everybody collecting their snow tyres and trying to fit them in the snow.


In most of the Norwegian towns you are not allowed to drive in to them with snow tyres.

Yes and the studs make a lot of noise.

The Canadian site is interesting - mainly freight trains, but they double stack the containers - I assume there are no bridges or tunnels?

The containers are often double stacked in Canada and the USA and there are lots of bridges and tunnels.

We have been to Norway in Wintertime. The Flam Railway was a great experience.

The next time we go to Norway it will be Summer. It should be clear of most of the snow then.
