What a miserable way to spend one's twilight years. I've heard it all before, some from doctors twice my size!, and the only real notice I've taken is to up my exercise routine. I spent the last few years of my job sat behind a desk and following retirement did much the same causing me to balloon to 18 stone. My wife and daughter bought me a Fitbit exercise watch about 18 months ago and since then I walk every day, usually 4 to 5 miles. I even bought myself a treadmill for the days when the weather is bad. I lost 2 stone so far and not stopping there. I still enjoy a drink (or two  ) but restrict it to 4 days a week, I still enjoy cakes and the odd biscuit. I have never smoked.

Serious diet and exercise is for the young. At my age (75.5) I would rather enjoy what's left by doing what I enjoy. As the man said "moderation in all things"

Gosh, and Heather has just produced a Bread Pudding for lunch. She has put half in the freezer. Its my first, since moving here. Glad she does not read these posts. She has cut red meat, to once a week, yogts or fruit, normally for puds, and soup for tea. We dont drink, and with 3 acres, do walk about the estate, checking fences, trees, etc. Looking to trudge up and down with Rotovator, in next few days. I know, i need more exercise, but my injected knees, tell me, to have a care. Heather out, walking the dog, as i return to pruning all apple and pear trees, bonfire making, and other outside jobs. Its a pain, growing old, but at 76, feel i am still pretty active.

Sleep Apnea test follow-up appointment brought forward to today. Diagnosed with severe sleep apnea. I have been issued with a CPAP machine and mask - I recall TWD said he used one. It will be interesting to see how this improves things.

Nothing to get worried about BB, you soon get used to it. They gave me a shiny new Philips machine at my last check up in December.

My wife uses a CPAP machine. She has had it for just over four years. A life saver.

A bit of a bind taking on holiday as she has to take a spare in case of an emergency. On aircraft they have to go on as hand luggage (medical equipment). Both machines have to be with us at any time we travel.

We wouldn't have it any other way. :D

I was given a "To whom it may concern" letter for the airlines. This states that the bag containing the CPAP should be in addition to my baggage allowance - and carried as hand luggage. Off to Florida in May - virus permitting!

I know how you feel with a large plot to manage all on your own. When we moved to Gretna a while back it was a breath of fresh air leaving a large house with huge garden to keep up. Our new smaller 3 bed house with small low maintenance front and back gardens laied mainly to decrative pebbles instead of lawn with a few small flower beds to tend. Easy Life....... :D
