Not a bad layout. Useful if you haven’t got time to faff about buying the individual bits as cheap as possible. I would have to convert it to Peco track.

I’ve seen my share of American designs, these are arrestingly different, what with shunting extensions
And the use of space in the corner layout.

They were mentioned earlier in the post, but Jadlam do a number of large Hornby layouts, complete with loco's, rolling stock and controllers - the complete package - serious money, but in some cases a serious layout - and of course almost an instant layout.

for the layouts that they offer, including the 3 new 'hornby' ones

given that they supply most with a loco and two coaches it seems that is what they have worked on for stations and sidings, much to short for some but ideal for others.
I like the idea of using a turntable to allow you to double back in a relatively confined space to get storage in a place that points wouldn't allow, never crossed my mind.

Going slightly off topic, but I have a turntable (Peco) at the end of my fiddle yard. As my coaching stock has Kadee couplers, and with magnets placed under the track about a loco's length from the turntable, you can un-couple, turn the loco, run down a track kept free of stock, and re-couple at the other end of the coaching stock you left in the fiddle yard or other stock on another line - all works well. BB

Have to agree with comments made earlier re the overlarge number of points and lack of adequate siding length, bear in mind a R601 (Peco ST201) directly off a point is only sensibly going accommodate the equivalent of a single coach. Its as if its designed for someone merely using 0-4-0s and 4 wheel coaches or equivalent if its to have any play / shunting value. At the top left of the I would delete the second siding in and curve the other one round as far as its possible. At the bottom left again the first two sidings in reduced to one, the third siding could be curved to extend it. The siding made up largely of R610s below the outer platform could be extended especially it you were to make your own platforms in which it could be incorporated as a bay and making your on platforms would allow for the main station platform lengths to be expanded significantly. It could help in this respect to move the top crossover and connection from the sidings as far to the right as possible. The smaller station has simply too much track and I would be tempted to go for a single platform with a siding or two behind it but even then it any passenger train would to be a short dmu (1 or 2 car) or a push pull tank and coach.

looks great, The ability to uncouple stock is something I'm going to look into when the next layout comes along (there is going to be long enough before then that a project of changing couplings would be possible.) Since I have a few steam I shall have to look at the facilities of them too.
