Coal mine buildings

#1

Post by DavidEnghauser »

I am considering putting an 009 gauge area on my larger 00 gauge layout. One of the mine top buildings I am considering is the Faller Fortuna Mine Buildings. Here is a link to it: https://www.eurorailhobbies.com/product ... k=F-130944

As it is HO scale would it look out of place size wise? Does anyone have experience with their kits or this one specifically? Any alternate ideas appreciated. I have pictures of my layout and size of area on this forum under Layouts. Thank you.

Faller kits are very good indeed, i have the coal mine and headgear 130945 on my layout, and you will not notice the scale difference.

I agree with Brian, Faller kits are excellent. See a short video of my Coal Mine here:

I have decided to break up my layout shortly in favour for a smaller more manageable one and this will become redundant if anyone is interested. It's on its own self contained base and would be a shame to break it up.

I like your mine TWD very much and if I lived nearer I would be happy to make an offer for it but there is no way I could drive from Gretna to you and explain to a copper it is a necessary journey. What a shame. This taking apart of layouts is becoming popular. First walkingthedog now you, it must be contagious.

Sometimes a model that is slightly smaller than the scale you are modelling does fit in well. If, whatever it is, is at the back of your layout, it is in the distance, as it were, so be slightly smaller often is actually better. I have an N gauge cottage sitting on my hill - it may not stay(?) - but as it's not right in front of you it looks fine.

Thank you Sandy, I did enjoy building it. It'll be available for a while yet so if you do have an opportunity to collect over the next few months let me know. Not sure about WTD's reasons but I'm breaking it up because its just too big for the available space and I cant get around it! I'm also planning on a small portable N gauge which I had before.

I made the change because I hadn’t played trains for months. Suppose I had got bored with it. Nice to have a change after 60 years

You are getting well with the new layout walkingthedog. Track down already. Work in the garden is slowing down my progress. Have set 2 weeks for my double track to be running.

I haven’t got a lot of track, there isn’t the room, but enough to keep me entertained. Good luck getting yours up and running Sandy.

When restrictions are lifted TWD and I can drive down to you. I will pm you about the mine to see if you still have it.
It will be nice to have a long drive after staying indoors for so long.
