Double Slip Wiring

#1

Post by PomDave »

Hi All,

Just curious, I'm wiring up a series of SEEP point motors and I have one that's a 3 way point, so two motors are used, that's fine. I then saw a Double Slip for sale on Ebay and when I looked at the Peco layout diagram and wondered how would you fir point motors to that. Is there a special designed one?
As I say - just curious - not planning to get one.

When I installed three single slips on my layout it took me ages to get the wiring right. Like in the video I was linking the slips to adjoining points. I don't use the Mega system but my points/slips are all controlled by Cobalt dcc motors and the NCE Powercab. So to get it right I drew out on paper the different "routes" I wanted and created a macro on the Powercab for each route. All well and good till it came to the wiring! In the end I got so frustrated that I just kept swapping wire pairs over till it all worked! To complicate matters further I had created a small "dead" section ahead of the slips on the main lines to prevent a running main liner from crashing into slip points set against it. These are controlled by relays which are powered by the internal switches of the Cobalt. A very satisfying moment when I got all eight macros to work correctly but it take me several hours of cursing and crawling :D
Most people are shocked when they find out how bad I am as an electrician

Hi Ian S,

That Youtube link you put up is fantastic and explains the whole deal plainly and clearly. Thanks for that
