A little child's view looking through the railing outside Roseville Station.
And onwards north.

Re: Diesels at Crown Point.
Great pictures - the second one could be a train running in your garden. BB

Scenes looking towards Charlie and Agnes Marston's house as Class 47 47402 'Gateshead' heads towards Crown Point Yard.

Re: Diesels at Crown Point.
You have not got a lot of room, but what would add to the scrap yard theme would be a wagon being loaded with scrap. But there again, the scrap metal could be going by road.... Looks like they have a lot of metal to work on! Just seen in your picture. You have road transport ready!
It is surprizing how many places old locos were cut up. It seems that almost everyone wheeling and dealing who had cutting equipment was bidding. I noticed that two small locos were cut up near where I live in what must have been an old colliery siding or loop. I think the were GWR 0-4-2's. I was rather surprized to see this! It must have been a family and friend type of operation. They would probably be kicking themselves today though, but it goes to show how many locomotives were being sold, and also the opportunity to make money at the time for those willing to take on such a job.

As I and most of my family have been heavily involved in road transport, my oldest grandson (who is very interested in road transport also,) has 'commandeered' my low loader I had placed at 'Marston's Yard. He didn't get the scrapped engine that was on it though.Mountain Goat wrote: ↑Wed Jun 10, 2020 12:49 pm You have not got a lot of room, but what would add to the scrap yard theme would be a wagon being loaded with scrap. I have been so busy with the steam railway side of my layout, I needed a break. The beauties of having 'four railways' on one layout.
Class 25 25237 with a train load bound for Royal Ordnance Factory (R O F Barnbow)
Rather misty ahead. Is it going to rain? The Postman is on his second delivery waiting for a reply at the door. He has a package to deliver. Two dogs follow him on his round wait patiently.
Waiting at the signal as as a diverted down 'Thames Clyde' express to Leeds Central and Glasgow clears the junction.

Magnificent foliage, inspiring photo angles. The trains running through the lush
greenery is most evocative.

Thanks for your comments, Chops. They are much appreciated. Glad you like the photographs.
By now I guess you know I do not go for the prim and proper look. The number of times I have travelled on a train that is a secondary route and heard branches of trees 'thwack' the side of a carriage. The hedgerows overgrown and being unable to see a train properly. Nature in control.

Class 45 45048 'The Royal Marines' on a down diverted 'Thames Clyde Express' passing Crown Point Yard.
And at Sovereign Street on its way to Leeds Central (then Glasgow).
A trainspotter has a grandstand view of N air compressor van as it passes the Coach & Horses Inn.
